Winter Comforts

There is nothing like hugging a hot cup of tea with both hands on a chilly morning….

For me, a hot cuppa, sipped in solitude in the comfort of my home; is the definition of winter comfort.

There is something ceremonial about brewing a cup of tea. From selecting your favourite mug, to pouring the boiling water in it and seeing it take on the glorious hues of your tea bag. Then, stirring in your favourite extras and seeing the water form a beautiful swirl around your spoon. You are eager to have a taste but you know you have to wait till it’s the right temperature. You finally take a sip and you’re enveloped in its delicious warmth running through your body like a big warm hug. Your home is safe and warm, your kids are happy and fed and your heart feels safe and secure…

Alhamdulillah for seemingly simple, but big blessings.

But, as I write this post, I am reminded of the Muslim refugees living in flimsy tents in refugee camps; facing the biting cold every day with their young children….

Winter can be a tough time for refugees so please spare a thought (or a penny) for them when you can. You can donate to one of the numerous organisations helping to provide relief to the Syrian Muslims living in refugee camps.

To make it easy for you I have collated some links below:

Islamic Relief

Green Lane Masjid

Human Appeal

Muslim Aid

Don’t forget to share and encourage your friends and family to donate and help those in need.
