“When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge and a child who prays for them,” (Hadith).
Sahih Muslim
Allah (Subhaanahu wa ta’ala) made me a mother again recently and I am still in awe that He selected me to experience the indescribable joy and love that being a mother brings – 3 times over!
The reason for this post however is the Hadith quoted above. I was listening to a lecture recently and the Ustadh mentioned that if Muslim parents truly handled the Amanah (Trust) of parenthood well, they could reap the three benefits mentioned in the Hadith; through their children alone.
Subhanallah… what I understood from this is that our children are one of the only worthwhile investments that we should truly exert all of our efforts on.
If we do our jobs right, bi ithnillah, it is possible for us to leave behind a multitude of deeds that earn us everlasting reward.
May Allah give me (and all Muslim parents) the strength and wisdom to fulfil our Amanah to the best of our ability. Aamin
Mashaallah, Allahumma baarik, may Allah make our children the coolness of our eyes and may Allah make them beneficial to us and the whole Muslim world
Aamin! Thanks Aishatu 😘
Hope you’re doing well too? xx
